Transforming Care Home Environments for Dementia Residents: Our Presentation at Lynwood

We had a fantastic morning at Lynwood Care Centre Professional Networking Breakfast delivering our session on ‘The Role of Colour and Environment in Delivering High Quality Dementia Care’.

Dementia friendly design in care homes plays a vital role in supporting well being, safety and independence for residents. At Lynwood Care Centre, we recently explored how colour, contrast, lighting and thoughtful environmental choices can transform the experience of people living with dementia and strengthen person centred care.

Meeting others from care settings with such an interesting mix of experience, insight, and passion.

It was inspiring to meet so many passionate professionals committed to improving dementia care environments.

Colin Horn, Managing Director

We were delighted to hear how well the session was received, and grateful for the opportunity to share more about how colour, contrast, and thoughtful environmental design can support high?quality dementia care.

“Such a brilliantly informative session… so many positive comments from people as they were leaving.” Alison, Sales & Marketing, Lynwood Care Centre

“I found the talk truly engaging and insightful.” Alison Carey, Registered Manager, Alina HomeCare

“A fascinating talk from Emma and Colin.” Steve Sansom, Dementia Coordinator, RBWM

During the talk, Emma and Colin touched on Designing for Safety, Dignity & Independence, emphasising that good design is not about restricting independence but enabling it.

The environment doesn’t just support care, it delivers it.

“We often think of care as tasks, but the environment plays a huge role in how someone feels and functions every single day. Understanding how a person experiences the world around them is key to making sound design choices.” Emma Carr, Healthcare Environment Project Manager at Grosvenor Interiors
